Hedge clearing
The hedge alongside the path to Marston Thrift
is being cleared and in places reduced to an interwoven
fence using poles and coppiced live branches.
At present long stretches are now bare, leaving the path
exposed
and destroying
the habitat for numerous birds and wildlife. We have
been assured that it will only take a few years to recover
as re-planting is being done. A detailed explanation
of the project, and the reasons for the methods
being used, by the Marston Vale Forest's site manager,
Andrew
Lingard,
can
be read
or
downloaded
here (Word™ document).

18-12-09 Here comes the snow
Kids
and dogs (and some adults) love the snow and whilst it's
clean and white it is fun. However as soon as
it becomes ice and then slush the fun goes. More
and more houses are now covered with illuminations, cheering
us up again.

CRANFIELD RATEPAYERS ACTION GROUP
is trying to oppose the locating of a Travellers
site in or near the village. Jim
is working very hard to get support. Many residents
are very worried about the possible consequences
to village life. Unfortunately the authorites don't
want
to listen to people's fears and call most objections "racist"!
21-10-09 GREEN
INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING CONSULTATION
Only15 residents (.03% of the village) attended
this public meeting to see
the plans and to give their views on how to improve
Cranfield's green spaces, paths, ponds, views etc.
It's appalling!
10-10-09 Litter Pick Day
Only 6 stalwarts turned up to clean up the village.
The Parish Council was represented by Alan Morris
(and his wife) and Laurence
Pollock. Where were the others - and the rest of the
village?
10-10-09 Traffic Calming Exhibition
was held in the Methodist Church. Some strong opinions
by residents were expressed about the plans.
